Titanic II sinks in West Bay harbour on her maiden voyage

TITANIC SINKS:

A small cruiser called Titanic II followed in the footsteps of the original Titanic when she sank on her maiden voyage in West Bay, Dorset on 5 June.  Proud new owner Mark Wilkinson from Birmingham had only recently bought the 16ft cruiser and this was his first voyage on her, but he was forced to abandon ship when the vessel sprang a leak and started to settle by the stern.

Coastguards and West Bay harbourmaster James Radcliffe helped tie the stricken boat to the pier as Mr Wilkinson struggled free of the vessel. This was the first day of Mr Wilkinson’s holiday in Dorset that ended with his newly acquired boat being put on a trailer and towed away for repairs.
